This FAQ page explains how our custom portrait experiences work, what makes Eternity Photography different, and what families can expect before, during, and after their session.
Welcome! I know choosing a photographer—especially for your children or family—can bring up a lot of questions. This page is designed to answer the most common ones in a clear, conversational way so you know exactly what to expect when working with Eternity Photography.
Eternity Photography specializes in story-driven portrait experiences, with a strong focus on children and families. While I photograph a variety of sessions—families, children, seniors, headshots/branding, couples, engagements, pets, and intimate weddings—my heart is in creating magical, meaningful experiences for children.
My signature offerings include Fairies & Fishermen Portrait Experiences, where children step into an imaginative world and become part of a visual story that lives on through heirloom artwork.
I don’t believe photography should feel rushed, generic, or transactional.
Every session is:
Custom-planned around your child or family
Unhurried, allowing time for connection and creativity
Hand-edited with a fine-art approach
Designed to become printed artwork, not forgotten files
This is not a “quick session with all digitals included.” It’s a guided experience from start to finish—much more like commissioning artwork than booking a photoshoot.
Here’s what you can expect:
Consultation – We talk by phone before your session so I understand your vision, your child’s personality, and how you want to enjoy your images.
The Portrait Experience – Sessions typically last 2–4 hours, allowing plenty of time for imagination, movement, and natural expressions.
Image Selection – After your session, you’ll view your images and choose only the ones you truly love.
Custom Artwork Creation – I hand-edit your selected images and help you choose albums, wall art, or storybooks designed to last for generations.
Most custom portrait sessions last between 2 and 4 hours.
This surprises some people at first, but it’s intentional. Children need time to warm up, explore, and feel comfortable. Some of the most magical moments happen later in the session—after the pressure is gone and imaginations take over.
No one is rushed. Our goal is to make it a fun time for everyone!
For Fairies & Fishermen experiences, I provide:
Dresses or themed outfits
Wings or accessories
Floral crowns or styling pieces
Parents simply bring their child with clean hair and a light lip gloss if desired. I guide you through everything else.
For traditional family or senior sessions, I offer wardrobe guidance during your consultation.
Children do not need to know how to pose, smile on command, or follow instructions perfectly.
In fact, many of my favorite sessions are with:
Shy children
Strong-willed children
Highly imaginative children
Children who “don’t usually like pictures”
I work at your child’s pace and meet them exactly where they are.
Digital images are available with purchased artwork, but they are not the focus of the experience.
My philosophy is simple: photographs are meant to be seen, held, and enjoyed daily—not stored on a hard drive. Albums, storybooks, and wall art are how these memories become part of your home and your child’s story.

I offer heirloom-quality products, including:
Fine art wall portraits
Luxury leather albums
Custom-designed storybooks (especially popular for children)
Each product is professionally made through carefully selected vendors and designed to last for generations.
Session fees vary by experience and event.
Specialty experiences (like Fairies & Fishermen) have a set session fee that covers the experience itself.
Artwork and collections are purchased separately after you view your images.
Most clients invest in custom artwork rather than individual images, and I guide you through options that fit your home and goals.
Eternity Photography is located just outside of Manhattan, Kansas, and serves families throughout the surrounding area.
Specialty sessions take place in our custom-designed fairy and fisherman set and custom sessions are done at our studio or outside in our beautiful wooded area in the Flint Hills near our pond.
That’s okay.
We take breaks. We slow down. We pivot. Some of the most beautiful images come after a pause.
You are never judged, rushed, or pressured.
The first step is simple: reach out and start a conversation.
I’ll help you decide whether a custom portrait experience is the right fit and guide you from there.
If you have a question not answered here, I’m always happy to help.
This FAQ page explains how Eternity Photography’s custom portrait experiences work, what makes our approach different, and what families can expect before, during, and after their session. These answers are designed to help parents understand our process, pricing philosophy, and the experience we create—especially for children’s story-driven portraits like Fairies & Fishermen.

Fairies & Fishermen is a storybook-style children’s portrait experience where your child steps into an imaginative world—either as a fairy exploring an enchanted forest or a fisherman discovering quiet wonder by the water. It’s playful, gentle, and designed to feel like a real adventure, not a photoshoot.
Plan for 1.5 hours. This allows time for imagination to unfold naturally. Children explore, interact, and ease into the experience so expressions feel authentic and joyful. We begin with picking out their dress (or jean overalls for boys) - this is such an awesome, exciting time for them! They pick out wings and a floral crown, too. Then we do some light hair and makeup. After their session we'll sit down with mom, dad &/or grandparent and go thru the images together. The whole experience and reveal/order time takes about and hour to 90 minutes. Oh! And the kiddos get treats and a treasure from our cute treasure box!
Yes. For Fairies & Fishermen sessions, I provide:
Costumes or themed clothing
Wings, floral crowns, hats, or accessories
Styling pieces and props such as frogs, turtles, mushrooms, even a fishing dock!
Parents simply bring their child ready for a small hair touch-up and a bit of lip gloss if desired.
How much should we expect to invest?
There are two parts to your investment:
Session Fee – Covers planning, time, styling, and the portrait experience itself
Artwork & Images – Purchased after you view your images
Most families invest in artwork and albums rather than individual images, with guidance provided every step of the way.
Yes. Flexible payment options are available for artwork collections, and we can discuss what works best for your family during your ordering appointment.
That’s perfectly okay. You’ll never be pressured to purchase more than feels right for your family.
